COVID-19 Response in Narowal, Sahiwal and Nankana Sahib Districts

key Activities

Rural Aid is working on the following activities:

A). Awareness Raising campaign about the prevention of Coronavirus and Rights Protection by development of IEC material (Copy attached). These materials disseminated to general public, youth volunteers, MC and DETF members, community members, CBOs, activists and TACS stakeholders through social media, print media/newspapers (copy attached) and WhatsApp massages on regularly basis from 18 March 2020.

B). Coordination with district government. Developed coordination with district government department.

C). Food Distribution: Rural distributed food items to 31 poor daily wagers families in Narowal district through self and local fundraising

Current Status of Coronavirus: As per PDMA report dated 14 April 2020, the following coronavirus cases reported:

  • Sahiwal 07
  • Nankana Sahib 18

  • 31 poor daily wagers families through provision of food
  • 357 families through SHIs of Community Based Organizations/groups
  • 3200 members of partner community members by information dissemination

Number of Youth Volunteers Engaged

218 youth volunteers engaged in Awareness Raising campaign about the prevention of Coronavirus and Rights Protection. Rural Aid developed a WhatsApp group “Rural Aid Volunteers Narowal” consisted on 197 members including 135 volunteers, 28 MC members, 22 DETF members & AEOs, 12 Dosti teachers and “Rural Aid Volunteers Sahiwal” consisted on 133 members including 83 volunteers, 39 MC members and 11 DETF members. Rural Aid team is sharing the awareness raising material, massages, updated news and other relevant information on regular basis.

Self-help initiatives by Rural Aid Community Based Organizations/groups in Narowal and Sahiwal Districts:

Total 22 community-based organizations/groups actively responding COVID-19 according to their capacity and resources. Todate, The following 07 community-based organizations/groups generated funds to support local needy families:

Distribution of Mask, Hand Sanitizer and Gloves MC distributed the 30 Hand Sanitizer, 100 Mask and 100 Gloves to 130 community members in its UC through fund raising PKR. 10,000/- from the MC members for the prevention of corona virus.
Youth Welfare Taleemi Mohallah Committee Gumtala

 

Distribution of Mask, Hand Sanitizer and Gloves MC distributed the 50 Hand Sanitizer, 50 Mask and 50 Gloves to 50 community members in its UC through fund raising PKR. 15,000/- from the MC members for the prevention of corona virus.
District Education Task Force

 

Distribution of Food Bags MC distributed the 20 food item bags to the 20 poor daily wagers families through fundraising PKR.50,000/- from the Task Force Members and community for the revival life of the poor families in 5 UCs.
