Ziarat’s Living Fossils

As the sun sets on the Ziarat valley, it is saddening to see the once lush green Juniper forest now dotted with barren patches. Here a question arises: what can be done to save these living fossils? If a forest that has been around for thousands of years dies, an irreplaceable ecological treasure unique to the region and the incredible bio-diversity it supports will be lost forever.

Ziarat’s Living Fossils is a short film which highlights the ecological, historical and cultural importance of the Juniper trees. Juniper forest of Ziarat is the second largest  concentration in the world.

The film has been produced by IUCN Pakistan under the UN’s International Year of the Forest film series.
