of wildlife focusing on wild ungulates inhabiting the area. The purpose of the survey was to confirm occurrence of surviving population of Straight-horned Suleman Markhor -Capra falconerijerdoni in the Khalifat Mountain Range in Ziarat.

Fishermen trained for using Turtle Exclusion Device – a major step major towards Conservation of Marine Turtles in Pakistan

Karachi, November 25, 2010 IUCN Pakistan under its Balochistan Partnerships for Sustainable Development Programme organized a one-day training for fishermen for using Turtle Exclusion Device (TED). The training was conducted by Dr. Nicloas Pilcher at Marine Fisheries Department, Government of Pakistan where around 40 fishermen including representatives of the other organizations participated in the training.

Participation of Shirkat Gah in a Meeting with the President of Pakistan

Venue:         President House, Islamabad
Date and time:     September 29th,   4.00- 6.00 p.m.
Participants:        60 Organizations (including Shirkat Gah – Women’s Resource Centre),      Women Ministers, Women Parliamentarians and Bureaucrats participated.
Subject:         Roundtable meeting of prominent women, and a few men (Ministers etc.)         who were working or were related to the flood response.
Objective:         To discuss and evolve a comprehensive strategy for the rehabilitation of    flood affectees in general and women and children in particular.
