Mr. Amjad Rashid, Chairperson of the Pakistan National Committee of the IUCN Members

Mr. Amjad Rashid is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Pakistan National Committee of the IUCN Members.  He is the Chief Executive Officer of Taraqee Foundation – a Balochistan based non-governmental organization.  He started his professional career as a lecturer of Geology at the University of Balochistan and later moved into the social development sector of Pakistan. He earned his Master of Science degree in Social, Planning and Participation in Developing Countries in 1999 from the London School of Economics (LSE), United Kingdom.
His foray into the development career has helped him become a dynamic development professional. Since 1994 he has devoted his skills & expertise at the provincial and national levels towards poverty alleviation. In recognition of his services in the social sector, he has served as an Interim Provincial Minister for Education during the year 2007-2008.

His expertise include: networking, advocacy, linkages development, institutional development, and lobbying. He has implemented projects and programs under various sectors that included: Environment, Physical Infrastructure, Micro Credit & Enterprise Development, Health, Education, Human & Institutional Development, Livelihoods, Emergency Relief Activities, Child Protection & Rights, Community Mobilization & Awareness Raising with a special focus on environment.
