Advisor Climate Change, Mr. Malik Amin Aslam visits IUCN Pakistan

  Mr. Malik Amin Aslam, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Climate Change paid a visit to the IUCN Pakistan Country Office during his first visit to Karachi after assuming office of the Advisor Climate Change. He was welcomed by the Country Representative of IUCN Pakistan Mr. Mahmood Akhtar Cheema and IUCN Members. During the meeting various environmental issues were discussed.

He also visited the Urban Forest Model Park at Clifton. He was accompanied by Mr. Mahmood Akhtar Cheema, IUCN Country Representative. The Advisor was briefed on the plantation activities at the Model Park and their future plans by the Chief Executive of the Urban Forest Model Park Mr. Shahzad Qureshi. Mr. Malik Amin Aslam appreciated the idea of urban forestry and efforts of Mr. Shahzad Qureshi and his team. Mr. Aslam said that the Ministry is also devising a plan to expand urban forestry for enhancing the vegetative cover in the urban areas. He emphasized on the need to for private sector and individuals to come forward as it is a great cause and is also an investment for our future generations towards providing them a healthy environment.

Mr. Malik Amin Aslam also paid a visit to the mausoleum of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and offered fateha.

Plants were also planted in the vicinity of the mausoleum by Mr. Malik Amin Aslam, Mr. Mahmood Akhtar Cheema Country Representative IUCN Pakistan and members of Shehri-Citizens For A Better Environment – a Member organization of IUCN Pakistan.
